![]() Two prestigious choirs join forces for a March concert not to be missed On 28th March 2010 Halifax Choral Society will join forces with members of Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, the celebrated North of England Concert Orchestra and a team of world class soloists in a concert featuring two choral masterpieces, Verdi's Requiem and Holst's Hymn of Jesus. The conductor for the concert is John Pryce-Jones, artistic director of Halifax Choral Society. The concert takes place in the Victoria Theatre, Halifax. For more detail of our soloists click the links below: Claire Rutter (soprano), Madeleine Shaw (mezzo), John Hudson (tenor), Gidon Saks (bass) Holst's beautiful Invocation for 'cello and orchestra also forms part of the concert and features as soloist the renowned Russian 'cellist, Alexander Volpov, principal cello in the North of England Concert Orchestra, and guest principal with many other leading orchestras. A Warm Welcome to the ERCU Halifax Choral Society are delighted to welcome their guests, the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, a famous Scottish choir who recently celebrated 150 years of wonderful music making. The two choirs will combine once more on 30th May 2010, when Halifax Choral Society will sing as guests of the ERCU in the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, in a concert which includes Kodaly's Missa Brevis and Widor's Organ Mass. |
